BHSc (Nursing), NZRN, Designated Nurse Prescriber in Community Health
(at number 128) Monday 2pm – 5.30pm; Tuesday 9am – 12.30pm
(at number 130) Wednesday 9am – 11.30am
I graduated from Manukau Institute of Technology in 2001. I gained experience at Middlemore Hospital focusing on General Surgery and General Medicine with a gastrointestinal + wound care focus.
From there I travelled abroad and worked in London and then furthered my career with invaluable experience doing aid work in Nigeria. Here I worked in a challenging environment with limited medical support caring for 160 orphan boys as their primary carer and also working in the slums.
Upon returning to NZ, I took a short career break and focused on my expanding family. I am married to Kevin and we have four children, including twins.
The last 5 years I have worked in primary health care, expanding my skill base. More recently I completed a training programme through The Nursing Council of New Zealand and Counties Manukau Health where I developed the skills and knowledge to prescribe a small range of antibiotics and treatments for Ear, Eye, Throat and Skin infections in otherwise healthy adults and children.
BHSc (Nursing), NZRN, PG Dip, Designated Nurse Prescriber in Primary Health and specialty teams
(at number 128) Tuesday 9am – 12.45pm; Wednesday 9am – 11.45am; Friday 3pm - 4.45 pm
I graduated from Manukau Institute of Technology in 2005. since then I have been gathering nursing experience in general surgery and medicine, emergency medicine, maternity, and post-operative recovery, and recently as a practice nurse at Millhouse. Over the last six years I have been studying part time at the University of Auckland where I completed a postgraduate diploma and am working towards Masters in Nursing. I recently fulfilled the requirements for becoming a designated Nurse Prescriber in primary health and specialist teams. I am now authorised to prescribe medicines for common and long-term conditions including diabetes, respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD, hypertension, anxiety and depression, heart failure, gout, palliative care, contraception, vaccines and common skin conditions. I take great pride in my new role and my goal is to provide enhanced and prompt care without compromising patient safety. This wider scope of nursing services allows the practice to provide convenient, timely and practical care, improve access to medicine and minimise double handling of patients.
I live locally in Howick. I have been married to Mark for 19 years and we have three children.
